This new dental access service is a one-year NHS pilot designed to improve oral health and access to dental care for children in Northwest London, where rates of poor child health are among the highest in the UK.

Who is this service for?
This programme is aimed at children and young people who may be missing out on regular dental care, especially those with additional needs or from more deprived communities.
Your child/young person may be eligible if they:
- Are aged 0–16
- Live in NW10 or HA9
- Are not currently under regular NHS dental care
- Have never seen a dentist, or
- Have not seen a dentist for 12 months or more

Four local NHS dental practices in Brent have been selected to provide:
- Longer, child‑friendly appointments for children and young people
- A full range of NHS dental treatment, where needed
- Evidence‑based advice on keeping teeth and gums healthy
- Support to overcome barriers to accessing dental care, such as fear, lack of information, or practical difficulties
- A clear pathway into specialist community dental services if a child needs more complex care
These practices will also be working closely with GPs, health visitors, family hubs, early years settings, schools and pharmacies to promote good oral health and help families into care.

How to access this service:
If your child/young person meets the criteria above, a professional in your usual service (for example your GP, health visitor, school nurse, family hub or other community service) may complete a referral letter for you.
You will then be asked to contact one of the participating dental practices directly, telling them your child is part of the Targeted Dental Access (TDA) Programme.
Please take the referral letter with you to the appointment.
