Talking therapies, also known as psychological therapies or talking treatments, are beneficial for individuals facing various emotional challenges. These therapies are designed for anyone experiencing difficult times or struggling with emotional issues that they find difficult to manage independently.

Smear Clinic – Cervical Screening
Smear Clinic: Cervical Screening Service
Our practice offers Smear Tests (Cervical Screening) to help prevent cervical cancer by detecting early changes in the cervix.
In line with national guidelines, we operate a recall system for cervical screening for women aged 25 to 65 years. Cervical smears are carried out by both our doctors and practice nurses. When booking your appointment, please inform our reception staff so that adequate time can be allocated for the procedure.
Our policy is to test all women aged 25 to 64 every three years. Under new guidelines, women aged 50 and over will be recalled every five years, unless the cytologist or consultant recommends more frequent testing. Please ensure you attend your recall appointment and do not ignore your recall letter.
Our Services Include
We provide a comfortable and confidential cervical screening service carried out by experienced female clinicians:
Routine cervical screening appointments — Usually offered every 3 years (ages 25–49) or every 5 years (ages 50–64).
HPV testing — Samples are tested for high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV), which can cause cervical cell changes.
Support for anxious patients — We understand that smear tests can feel uncomfortable or worrying and are here to help you feel at ease.
Results and follow-up care — Clear explanations of your results and next steps if any further monitoring or treatment is needed.
Culturally sensitive care — We provide respectful and understanding care for all patients, including those from diverse backgrounds.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
Your smear test appointment is a quick and routine procedure carried out with care and sensitivity:
Private and respectful environment — You’ll be seen by a trained female nurse or doctor in a private consultation room.
Explanation of the process — The clinician will explain what will happen and answer any questions you may have.
The test itself — A small sample of cells will be taken from your cervix using a soft brush — the procedure only takes a few minutes.
Comfort and support — We’ll ensure you feel as comfortable as possible throughout the process.
Information on when to expect results — You’ll be told how and when you will receive your test results.
